Piaggio Group Japan Headquarters
Branding and flexibility

Piaggio Group Japan – the iconic company including Vespa, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia – relocated its Japan headquarters in a new facility located in Tokyo’s heart. The floor area is 350 square meters wide and includes a workshop and a display area for the first time in Piaggio’s history.
Space is highly flexible and allows to accommodate numerous functions and several layouts. The client requested to condense in a unique space three services previously located in different venues: an office, a workshop and a motorcycle garage. The new facility includes all those functions in a flexible layout. Furthermore, space can host events related to the Piaggio Group’s activity in Japan, such as the dealer’s meetings or new models’ presentation. Some of the previous office furniture has been reused in this new facility to respect the construction budget. However, a significative effort has been made to harmonize the overall environment by adopting new furniture compatibles with the existing. Among the others, here are the most innovative furniture adopted:
Paper Softwall – produced by the Canadian company Molo Design – was adopted to achieve the flexibility required to host many different uses. This innovative space partition can be arranged in countless ways, and it is also a perfect background for the motorbikes showcased in this space.
RP Partition – produced by the Italian brand Unifor and designed by Renzo Piano – is used here to divide the space into three functional areas: showroom/workshop/event space, office area, meeting room, and warehouse.
Branding is an essential part of this project since the client asked to guarantee high visibility to all of the Piaggio Group brands. For this reason, areas dedicated to each brand have been allocated within the facility. The graphic works include archive images of Vespa, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia, and a collage of the advertising campaigns that have made this brand successful worldwide.
Following the recent trends in workspace design, the office area includes corners to promote the workers’ social interaction and well-being. A wide high-counter is dedicated to the lunch break but can also be used for short meetings. Soft seating is placed freely and can be moved around the workspace to allow for casual gatherings.
